I got the Acer Aspire casing from my brother, after he got himself a new computer.
And after months of sitting around doing nothing, I decided to strip the casing apart, and I have been thinking of a project.
My project will consist of:
- 1x 92mm top blowhole (fan with LED)
- Side window with 2x 80mm side intake fan (fan with LED)
- 1x 80mm LED front intake fan
- 1x 80mm LED rear exhaust fan
The computer will be a super budget micro ATX computer. Hence the components to be used are:
- Giga GA-EG41M-ES2L + E7400 = S$303 (Intel setup)
- GigaGA-MA78GM-US2H + A64×2 7750 = S$248 (AMD setup)
- Team Elite 2GB = S$55
- Hitachi 320GB HDD = S$67
- Samsung DVD Burner = S$32
- Andyson 500W PSU = S$77
Total damage expected: S$479 – S$534
This project will temporarily use internal graphics until I can find a replacement graphics for my sister’s HD4670, which will be great for this build due to the fact that it does not use additional 6-pin power.
CPU Cooler to be used will be:
- Asus V72 (currently already have this, but only support Intel)
- Thermaltake Duorb (can’t find this in price lists anymore, maybe out of stock?)
- need to look for other alternatives, maybe Thermaltake MaxOrb
- any vertical CPU cooler is good, provided it has LED for the bling factor.
Since I’m going for bling-bling, I’ll vote for any CPU cooler that does not exceed 110mm in height, hence big coolers like Thermalright Ultra 120 is a no-no to this project.
Other things I might need to consider are:
- painters tape
- 3M adhesive 4010
- Drill bits (5mm, 10mm)
- Files for metal/plastic
- Sandpaper
Bling2 stuffs will include:
- CCFL (will be considering light purple, red and green)
- Custom fan grills
Only time will tell. I will buy components bit by bit until this project is concluded. Cheers!
Update 1: Steel is FUCKING HARD TO DRILL! Even with my maximum strenth! Plus the noise, urgh… unbearable. Status update 1, FAILURE. I’ll have to think of something soon, or else my project won’t be a reality.
