Devil May Cry 4 performance test is not accurate!

And I think it has something to do with my cheap graphics card.

Oh, if you want to know, I’m running 2x HIS Radeon HD 4670 under CrossFireX mode. My Catalyst Control Center version is 2009.0113.2222.40119.

I keep using DMC4 as a gauge for my CPU bench but it seems that on some occasions, my FPS would be around 80-90ish on the first scene, and on good occasions it would run at 160-180ish on the same scene! That’s an insane difference if you asked me. I always bench at 1680×1050, but I don’t find this problem on lower resolution (e.g. 1280×720).

At first I though my CrossFireX is unchecked in CCC, but it was checked all along.

My conclusion? It’s not very accurate or even consistent. At the time of writing, my FPS on first scene hits an average of 160 or so. Yesterday was around 80+.

I don’t know what could have caused the difference, but I do know that as long as I bench at 1680×1050, I will be bound to have this issue.

Nevermind about that, I wanted to change to the more powerful HD4870 soon. Real soon.

Yet, another Devil May Cry 4 bench…

I have always wanted to bench this after I have installed the E8400 as my new processor…

Here’s the settings:

  • 1024 x 768 x 32bit
  • MSAA 2x
  • Vsync off
  • Everything else at “high”

And behold the results… This is done on a HD 4670 x2 (CrossFireX enabled) configuration.

That’s a damn straight line if you asked me… Hehehe…

Here’s without CrossFireX mode:
